Second, discuss the locations you would allow your child to work (i.e. would you be open to allowing them work in Vancouver or do you prefer they volunteer closer to home?) Discuss what type of transportation you approve of (you driving, public transit, etc.) Also, which days of the week and what time of day is it okay for your child to work?
Third, please be sure to support your child during their work experience by asking them about their progress, what they are doing at work, how they feel about their work and what they are learning. Parent involvement is an essential part of student success in Career Programs. Many students appreciate it when you stay informed about their career goals and plans for the future.
