What is Youth Work in Trades?
- work-based training option for industry training (apprenticeship) available to secondary school students
- Students need to be hired and working under a journey person
- Students can add Train in Trades to their Work in Trades program
- Either can be done separately
- Not only will the students earn up to 16 credits towards their high school diploma, log upwards of 480 training hours toward their trade credential, students will be EARN while you LEARN - receiving a pay cheque for their work

- Program equals 4 courses
- 480 paid work hours towards your apprenticeship

How do you Apply?
- Contact your Secondary School Career staff, Counsellor or Apprenticeship Facilitator
- Discuss the program with your family
- Research trades of interest: www.itabc.ca
- Find an employer who is a Certified Tradesperson and is committed to sponsoring you as an apprentice in your Youth Work in Trades training
- Obtain and complete the Youth Work in Trades application from your school's Career Education contact
Requirements:
- Have parent or guardian permission
- Be 15 years of age or older and be enrolled in grade 10, 11, or 12
- Have paid work in an apprenticeable trade
- Have a Certified Tradesperson as a sponsor
- Provide your own transportation
